Derrell Hughes

Honea Path – Walter Derrell Hughes, 81, husband of Sandra Doss Williams Hughes, of Wildwood Drive, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.

 

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Walter Eugene and Martha Catherine Ridge Hughes. He was a member of Chiquola Baptist Church and retired from Ahold USA. Mr. Hughes was a veteran of the US Air Force and a retired veteran of the SC Army National Guard. He was a diehard Clemson fan. He loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 40 years of the home are: his son, Thomas Pickney (Tonya) Williams, Jr. of Townville; his daughter, Lisa Williams (Pat) Campbell of Appling GA; two sisters; Caroline (Mike) Nalley and Evelyn Hughes, both of Honea Path; six grandchildren, Kayla, Hope, Heather, Daniel, Montana, and Savannah; fourteen great-grandchildren, Arianna, Cooper, Colton, Raylyn, Sawyer, Porter, Leighton, Boyd, Logan, Camden, Conner, River, Winnie, and Shepard; special nephews, John (Leslie) Nalley of Willard OH and Jeremy (Kelli) Nalley of Belton; special great nephew and niece, Wyatt Nalley and Zoey Nalley; and special nieces, great nephews and a great niece in Willard OH and Clarksville TN.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at 4 P.M. Friday, March 29, 2024 at Chiquola Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Powell and Rev. Mark Thomas officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date.

The family is at the home and will receive friends from 3-4 P.M. Friday at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Chiquola Baptist Church, 405 E. Greer St., Honea Path SC 29654.
