Phoenix Community - Cynthia Otomie Sanders Hitt, 91, wife of Robert Fulton Hitt, of Damascus Church Road, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 8, 2025. She was born in Ninety Six, SC on October 29, 1933 to the late Charlie Clifton and Mattie Marie Knox Sanders

She was married to the love of her life, Robert, for 74 years. She was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She was an active member of First Damascus Baptist Church where she attended for 62 years. She retired from Greenwood School District 50 where she poured her heart and soul into her work as a school Dietician at Brewer Middle School. She loved spending time with her family and preparing meals, especially her banana pudding, roast, and Saturday work day meals. Her hobbies included dancing, needle work, working in her Church, singing with the love of her life, and bringing joy thru their music to Wesley Commons Retirement Community.

Surviving are her husband, Robert, of the home, two sons, David Hitt (Teresa) and Barry Hitt (Donna), two daughters, Marie White (Joe) and Rhonda Cooper (Myron), seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Wade, Waymon, and Charlie, and a sister Barbara Rivers.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Monday, May 12, 2025 at First Damascus Baptist Church, Damascus Church Road, Bradley, SC 29819 with Rev. Mark Strickland and Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home and will receive friends from 2 – 3 PM on Monday at the church prior to the service.
