Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Jeff and Betty Holcombe Speer. He was of the Baptist Faith, graduated from Chemeketa Community College of Salem Oregon, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Vietnam War. He was retired from 3M company of Greenville.
Surviving are his wife, Kathleen of the home, a son, Dennis Daniel McAuliff of Ware Shoals, two daughters, Star DuBois of Ware Shoals and Teresa McAuliff, both of Ware Shoals, a brother, Merle Speer (Sandy) of Oregon, two sisters, Connie Johnson (Dana) and Kathy Johnson (Dennis), both of Colorado, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Wayne Speer and Clayton Durham, and a sister, Karen Speer.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, August 18, 2025 at Parker-White Funeral Home Chapel, Ware Shoals. Burial will follow in the Ware Shoals Cemetery.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM on Wednesday at the Funeral Home prior to the service.
