Barry Adams

Waterloo - Barry Tolbert Adams, 71, of Serene Drive, husband of Mary Jane Head Adams, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Regency Rehab of Anderson.

Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Charles “Doc” and Anita Hillard Adams. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. A retired painter and salesman, he had an AA degree from Piedmont Tech.

Barry lived a full life. He was a jack of all trades from painting to cooking to selling. He loved interacting with people and could often be found at a flea market selling, but mostly just getting to know people. He has painted almost everything around at some point in time. He would often point out places while riding down the road, and everywhere had a story. He sold everything from houses to peanuts, and loved a good deal.

He was the most passionate about his family. When he would hear about or see something that would make a family member happy it would always find its way to them. He took care of every stray around providing for them because he cared.

He loved to cook. His hash was famous, but his Sunday morning breakfast was amazing. He would make enough for everyone and deliver to those who could not come.

Surviving are a son, Tony “Mac” Adams (Renee) of Greenwood, two daughters, Tonya “Blabbermouth” Vermillion (David) of Donalds and Marie “Jughead” Graham (Jason)  of Waterloo, two brothers, Chuckie Adams of Dunedin, FL and Michael Adams (Kathy) of Greenwood, three sisters, Linda Byers (Jon) of Atlanta, GA, Kathy Dodson of Greenwood, and Teresa Polattie (Dwight) of Greenwood, eleven grandchildren, Kristen, Austin, Michael, Dave, Gabriel, Daniel, Brittany, Angel, Ashlee, Heather, and Grady III, and eight great-grandchildren, Damian, Hunter, Ava, Grayson, Mason, Ainsley, Mallory, and Grady IV.
