Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late JB and Elsie Lee Cannon Gilmer. He was of the Assembly of God faith and formerly worked at Chiquola Mills and Carolina Springs.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 39 years of the home are: two sons, Stephen Dean Alberson of the home and Bryan Hatcher of Honea Path; three daughters, Tracy LeeAnn Alberson, Staci Laine Alberson and Chesney Marie Hatcher, all of Donalds; a brother, Mike (Teresa) Gilmer of Honea Path; a sister, Sandy (Frankie) Phillips of Honea Path; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, whom he dearly loved, Elaine Bell Davis of Belton; many special nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Tiny Ann.
Mr. Gilmer was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dink Gilmer, Randy Gilmer and Roger Gilmer; and a sister, Gloria Jones.
Graveside services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday November 9, 2025 at Eastview Cemetery with Rev. Tracy Clements officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 P.M. Sunday at Pruitt Funeral Home prior to the service.
