Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late James Haywood Sr. and Mary Ellen Bratcher Ellison. He was retired from his work as a truck driver, and previously worked as a Policeman in Atlanta, GA. He also served in the Army National Guard.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Ellison is survived by his son Scooter Broome of Greenville; four daughters: Alison Perez (Manuel) of Belton, Jennifer Ellison of Belton, Cathy Roberson of Honea Path and Amanda Gambrell of Belton; his brother Richard Ellison (Tina) of Belton; his sister Jessie Ellison of Belton; seven grandchildren: Kayleigh Gambrell, Kameron Lusk, Brittany Brown, Kelsey Brown, Jacob Roberson, Alexis Perez and Irving Perez; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Jackson Gambrell.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Conklin officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery.
