Born in Ten Mile, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Willis Jason and Mary Maureen Letner Gunter. He was a member of Gethsemane Church. He enjoyed reading the bible to the disabled elderly. He also enjoyed raising rabbits, goats, quail and chickens.
Surviving are a son, David Nelson (Kristina) of Greenwood, three daughters, Veronica Hall (Joel) of Hodges, Tisha Horne (Floyd) of Ware Shoals, and Stephanie Roche (Bobby) of Ninety Six, a brother, Don Gunter (Joy) of Kenosha, WI and eleven grandchildren, Christopher, Anna, Emily, Abigail, Ashlea, William, Wesley, Madison, Robby, Gatlin, and Austin, and three great-grandchildren, James, Raelee, and Cooper, and a caregiver, Jamie Smith of Ware Shoals.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Terry Gunter and a sister, Cheryl Stephens.
