Mrs. Heller was the eldest child of Hugh and Doris Ashley Frederick and the oldest grandchild in her family. She was a cherished sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who was always thoughtful of others and deeply devoted to her family. She retired from South Carolina National Bank, where she served as a loan officer and built lasting friendships with many clients throughout her career.
Beginning in her teenage years, Sylvia served in music ministry as a music director, organist, or pianist until her death. Music was her calling and her passion, and she found great joy and comfort in sharing her gift through various churches in the area.
Sylvia was a devoted and faithful member of Keowee Baptist Church in Honea Path, South Carolina, where she accepted Christ and was baptized at age 9. She served in many roles over the years, including Sunday School teacher, choir director, children’s choir director, and, most recently, pianist.
Surviving are her sister, Patty F. Walters of Ware Shoals; nieces, Shelley W. Halpin (Jimmy) of Donalds and Ashley F. McAllister (Terry) of Honea Path; great-nephews, Tyler Halpin (Amanda) of Donalds and Devin Cook (Carla) of Honea Path; great-niece, Raelyn Beasley of Honea Path; great-great-nephew, Branson Halpin; great-great-nieces, McKinley and Bexley Halpin and Brooklyn and Addison Cook; and her treasured cousin and namesake, Anna McCullough of Honea Path, who held the place of a granddaughter in her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Doris Ashley Frederick; her brother, Sonny Frederick; her great-nephew, Drayton Cook; and her special first cousin, Lana McCullough.
The family extends a special thanks to her devoted friends Ernestine Boland, Carol Morris, Susie Smith, and JoAnn Brock for their constant care and compassion.
