Joe was born on April 23, 1958, to the late Joseph Tallyen and Shirley Lezan Tallyen. Joe formerly worked as a master welder. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was known for his love of 60’s and 70’s music and celebrating with his family and friends. More than anything, Joe loved his wife and his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of eight years, Kimberly McGaha Tallyen ; his son, Michael Tallyen ; his daughter, Amy Tallyen; his bonus son, Jared Mayo; two brothers, Russell Tallyen (Kathy), Jeff Tallyen (Lieven); one sister Kris Tallyen Hoffman; three grandchildren, Madison Campbell, Kaleigh Campbell and Michael Xavier Tallyen (Max); and several nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Rick Tallyen.
A private memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Buncombe United Methodist Church in Greenville S.C.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
