Born in Honea Path, S.C., on December 29, 1940, Nancy was the daughter of the late William and Nellie Inez Pace South.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her sister, Nina South Traynham; sister, Ethel South Hundley; brother, William R. South, Jr.; and sister, Barbara South Paderick.

The baby of the family, Nancy lost her mother when she was only two years old. Nancy was never able to live independently because of special needs not clearly understood until later in her life when familial genetic testing revealed Fragile X—a chromosomal disorder. Nancy’s father and stepmother, Sarah, cared for Nancy until their deaths, and then she resided in retirement and nursing home facilities for the remainder of her life with assistance from her sister, Barbara, and brother-in-law, Hal, and then her niece, Carol Dorn Sanders, and her husband, Jeff.

Nancy loved family, sodas and snacks, Russell Stover candy, stuffed animals, celebrating her birthday, presents, pocketbooks, cameras, Minnie Mouse and the Clemson Tigers.

Nancy is survived by nieces Kathy Trayhnam Sanders, Connie Dorn Bielejeski (Gary), Lynette Dorn Johnson (Eric Granick) and Carol Dorn Sanders (Jeff); and nephews Buddy Traynham and Lenny Dorn (Paula).

A private service will be held at Parker-White-Pruitt Funeral Home in Honea Path.
