Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late George Alan and Edna Elizabeth Johnson Smith. He attended Belton-Honea Path High School and later Tri-County Technical College. Keith was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a welder.

Keith was a faithful attendee of Bethany World Outreach Center, where his faith was an important part of his life. He was a strong-willed man who lived life on his own terms and marched to the beat of his own drum. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and loved riding his motorcycle. Above all, his grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He loved them wholeheartedly, and being their grandfather was a treasured part of his life.

He is survived by his son, Bronson Smith, and wife, Taylor, of Greenwood; his daughter, Brooke Schronce, and husband, Casey, of Belton; and his three beloved grandchildren, Sawyer Smith, Stone Schronce, and Sutton Schronce.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Pamela Williams Smith; his two brothers, Mike Smith and Bobby Smith; and his sister, Donna Smith.
