Honea Path – Coleman Weigle Gary, 73, husband of Katherine Holder Gary, of 707 W. Greer St., died Saturday, January 5, 2008.

Born October 22, 1934 in Whitmire, S.C. he was the son of the late George Coleman and Hazel Weigle Gary. He graduated from Honea Path High School in 1952; attended Presbyterian College and Clemson University. He served two years as an Army Sgt. with the Military Police and three years with the Army Reserves. He retired as President of the Anderson Federal Credit Union and from Owens Corning Fiberglas. He served as President of the S.C. Federal Credit Union for two – four year terms. He received the Order of the Palmetto from the State of S.C. by former Governor David M. Beasley on June 8, 1998 for his support of the development of Credit Unions in the State of S.C.

He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church, Honea Path, S.C. During his membership he served as Church Clerk for 18 years, Church Trustee for 10 years, member of the finance committee, Sunday School and Training Union teacher, and Deacon. He was a Master Mason with the Honea Path Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine Holder Gary, of 50 years and three children; Kathy Gary Kay and husband George Kay; Coleman Cummings Gary and wife Cassandra Gary; Charles Mason Gary and wife Angie Gary; and seven grandchildren; Beth, Sydney, Cara, Coleman, Meredith, Mason, and Madison; one sister, Kathleen Gary Beach, and one nephew, Paul Beach.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday at the Honea Path First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 P.M. Sunday at the Honea Path First Baptist Church. The family is at the home. Memorials may be made to the Honea Path First Baptist Church Building Fund, 100 S. Main St., Honea Path, S.C. Pruitt Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
