Honea Path – Mildred Sara Ashley, 90, of 124 J.R. Ashley Rd., widow of Robert Jennings Ashley, died Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Abbeville County, she was the daughter of the late John Press and Inez Fisher Ashley. She graduated from Antreville High School. She retired from the Honea Path Shirt Plant with 40 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Homemakers Sunday School Class.

She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. She was the happiest when her children and grandchildren were with her. She loved working in the yard with her flowers and cooking Sunday dinner.

She is survived by son, Robert (Sonny) Jennings Ashley, Jr. and spouse Martha from Greenville, Texas, and a daughter, Diane Poole and spouse David from Anderson.

Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; Chris Eberhart and spouse Sharon and daughter Ella. Erik Eberhart and spouse Amy and daughters Erika and Lydia. Robert (Rob) Ashley and spouse Lauren and children, Melissa, Julianna and Dianna. Teresa Montgomery and spouse Rusty and daughters, Ashley, Amber, Aubrie.

Step Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; Kyle Thompson and spouse Linda and children Kyle Wayne, Wade, Justin, Michael and Brandi, Beverly Farrand and spouse Don.

She leaves behind her special friend, “Little Bit”.

She was predeceased by a brother Marvin and grandson Robert J. Ashley IV.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Culbertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Saturday at Pruitt Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 2 P.M. Sunday. The family is at the home of a daughter, Diane Poole, 122 J. R. Ashley Rd., Anderson.
