EDNA HENDERSON


Edna Hughes Henderson, 95, widow of Fred A. Henderson died at Self Regional Medical Center July 11, 2009. She was born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Charles T. and Zelia Freeman Hughes. Mrs. Henderson was retired from Riegel Textile Corp. She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church where she had served as organist/ pianist for over 60 years, as church historian and as a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Boyd Bobo chapter of Eastern Star.

Surviving are two daughters, Judy Abrams and Susan Phillips both of Ware Shoals, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, 2 pm at Harmony United Methodist Church with Rev. Tina Thomas and Rev. T.T. Faucette officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Melvin Hughes officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Jeff Abrams, Tony Langley, Chris Kirland, William“Cooter” Phillips, George Fulmer, Johnny L, Balentine, Cecil Boggs, Ralph Holtzclaw, Bill Holland and Jimmy Hughes.

Honorary escort will be Ladies of the Church, Good Lifers Club and the Personnel of Magnolia Manor.

The families will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the church Monday, 1-2 pm. Memorials may be made to Harmony United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 155, Ware Shoals, S.C. 29692.
