Jacqueline “Jackie” Branyon

Honea Path – Frances Jacqueline (Jackie) W. Branyon, 80, widow of Francis M. (Mick) Branyon, Jr., of 3226 Highway 252, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at her home.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Wilton C. and Sallie Hunt Williamson. She was an active member of Barkers Creek Baptist Church where she served as a member of the choir, Sunday School teacher and assistant, Church Treasurer and teller. She worked faithfully in WMU as a past president, Mission Friends leader, and most recently as the Evening Bible Study Facilitator.

Mrs. Branyon served Anderson County for 34 years: 11 years as a clerk in the Anderson County Treasurer’s Office and 23 years as the county’s Tax Collector before her retirement in 1995.

Mrs. Branyon is predeceased by her husband, her parents, and a sister, Josephine W. Levings. She is survived by a daughter, Linda B. Martin; two sons, Robert H. (Bobby) Branyon and wife Angie and Francis M. (Bud) Branyon III, all of Honea Path; a brother, Wilton C. (Sonny) Williamson and wife Patsy of Belton; a sister, Wilma Smith and husband Dick of Columbia; four grandchildren, Christy and Robby Branyon of Anderson and Jason and Brandon Martin of Honea Path; and three great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Branyon of Anderson, Gavin and Brody Branyon of Townville and a sister-in-law Betty Branyon.

The family extends their appreciation to caretaker Viola Hawthorne for her love, care and kindness to their mother.

Funeral services will be held at 3PM Friday at Barkers Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Taylor and Rev. Arnold Hiette officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Pruitt Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 2 PM Friday. The family is at the home.
