Honea Path - George James “Jimmy” Grant, 63, husband of Janice Grant of Tornado Rd in Honea Path, died Monday, January 8, 2018 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of Blanche Stephens Grant and the late Hubert Leroy Grant. He was a member of Bethany World Outreach Church and formerly employed by Daniel Construction Company as a pipe welder and fitter.
Edith Shirley
Honea Path – Mary Edith Fleming Shirley, widow of William Bruce Shirley, formerly of Sauer Farm Road, passed away January 3, 2018 at The Maples Retirement Community, at age 89. Born in Due West on July 19, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Ethel Simpson Fleming. She grew up part of a sharecropper family, graduated 11th grade high school in Due West and enjoyed being a Due West telephone operator in early adulthood. On May 8, 1948, she married William Bruce Shirley, a farmer, became a homemaker, and is remembered by farmhands and family for many great meals. She was a life long fan of Clemson Tigers, attending many football games, and the New York Yankees. She was a member of Keowee Baptist Church, and attended The Joy Sunday school class at Barker’s Creek Baptist Church.
